IWD 2009 - Antigonish Rebellions

Over 50 women and children gathered on March 8 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia to celebrate women’s creativity and build feminist community.  Wyanne Sandler and Elizabeth Glinz, 2 participants at the Waves of Resistance gathering in October, organized the event with the help of a group of supporters.  The event featured several craft stations, live music, a performance of resistance dance, and lots of strong, beautiful women building feminist community and having fun.

Resist, make waves! Women, let’s misbehave!

We numbered over 500 young women at last October's pan-Canadian young feminists gathering. We were bursting with energy, ideas and the desire to take action and make change! We, the young feminist RebELLEs who were united at that Gathering, committed to resist and protest the rise of the Right and prove to the whole country that feminism is NOT dead: it is in constant renewal and in fact is expanding, with offshoots everywhere. The proof: there are thousands of young feminists and we're knocking down the door!

March 8th is approaching fast and we're ringing the bell for feminist action! The young feminists' pan-Canadian day of decentralized actions is around the corner!
