Moving forward: The time for assessment has arrived!

Step by step, we're creating our movement and the history of Canadian feminism and it's with enthusiasm that we announce that the pancanadian evaluation and follow-up meeting of the Waves of Resistance young feminists gathering is finally here!!! Tomorrow, we will gather for tree days to dress our evaluation the gathering and its spin-offs, but most of all we will be talking about possibilities and dreams for the future. The provincial organizers from the 11 provinces and territories have completed consultations with RebELLEs who participated in the gathering and will share the fruit of their reflections and their propositions for the continuation with delegates from across Canada!!! (See the consultation questions submitted by the Organisation Committee lower on this page).

This weekend, 18 young feminists, as well as the Organizing Committee, will participate in these tree days of feminist rediscovery, in discussions and fun at a chalet near Montreal! Each of the province and territories will be represented by at least one delegate, except Prince Edward Island and the Northwest Territories. A 17-year-old aboriginal delegate will also be present. These young women make up a small sample of the feminist energies of the 500 participants who made Waves of Resistance an unmistakable feminist milestone for the history of the feminist movement in Canada.

The pancanadian evaluation and follow-up meeting will be the chance for us all to:

• Share our personal and collective visions concerning the assessment of the gathering at all levels: its content, its form, its mobilization process, its organisation,

• Reinforce links between young feminist RebELLEs of Canada,
• Reflect and share on the continuations of the gathering and make them concrete,
• Consolidate the bases of a pancanadian network of young feminists who will allow the creation of collective actions in today's context of the rise of the right,
• Evaluate the challenges to overcome to strengthen the young feminist movement in Canada and to collectively remember its victories

In preparation of the pancanadian evaluation and follow-up meeting, the delegates have organised provincial/regional meetings/assemblies that gathered the most young feminists possible from their province or territory who participated in the gathering, in order to formulate a collective assessment of the event and to start dreaming of its continuation.

Here are the CONSULTATION QUESTIONS that were submitted to all the Canadian RebELLEs by the Organisation Committee:

1. What is your assessment of the Gathering? What do think were the two most positive aspects in terms of creating solidarity among young feminists? The two most negative aspects?

2. What are your wildest dreams for the follow-up to the Gathering? What kind of collective feminist structure or organization do you envision after Waves of Resistance?
3. Dreams are important, but so is the practical side! What part of these dreams do you think is realistically achievable?
4. Did the Gathering allow you to think about and develop action strategies to resist the rising of the right in your area?
5. What actions have young feminists in your area carried out since the Gathering? Is the commitment and dedication of young feminists more visible now?
6. Did the Gathering have an impact on feminist organizations in your area? If so, how?
7. How have you used or what use do you intend to make of the pan-Canadian young feminists manifesto and the popular education tools produced by the Waves of Resistance team?
8. In your opinion, what are the main barriers to feminist involvement/mobilization in your area?

During the evaluation and follow-up meeting, we will collectivize all of the responses from each province/territory. And we will keep you informed of the developments from this retreat, so rich in perspectives for the future for the RebELLEs and especially for our movement, the feminist movement!!!

The great success of the gathering was collectively built by us and we will celebrate its numerous future victories collectively. We're convinced that we will reap the fruits from the seeds of change that we have sown together!

THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE ADVENTURE!!! The gathering was just a beginning, a starting point to give shape to our feminist dreams and push us forward!
